Project Description

Tourism & Hospitality

The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), a specialized agency of the United Nations estimates that tourism accounts for 5% of Green House Gas (GHG) emissions, therefore, suggesting that tourism has a major impact on global GHG emissions (CO2, heating, air-conditioning, construction, etc.). Implementing sustainability efforts will help reduce the impacts that tourism and the hospitality industry have. In 2020, it is estimated that two billion people will travel to islands, deserts, jungles, glaciers and volcanoes, beaches and to the far corners of our planet. Of those travelers, 70 percent are more likely to choose a hotel if it is offering eco-friendly design and practices. Furthermore, the wellness tourism industry will be worth $619 billion with the US driving this industry. Together we will develop the following:

  • Minimize environmental impacts in the areas of waste, water, energy, and air quality.

  • Engage social responsibility in the communities where the resort, hotel or restaurant is located.

  • Implement a supply chain plan that demonstrates responsible choices with a conservation and reduced use focus.

  • Create innovative designs that minimize negative impacts, improve the economic bottom line, and create a culture surrounded by sustainability.

  • Introduce new products with the guests and the future of travel in mind. Products that are ocean-friendly, eliminate single-use plastics and reduce waste will create a positive transformation for the traveler of today.
